Freelancers for Authors

Keeping Authors Out of the Loony Bin Since 2009

I often get asked, “Mel, do you know any other freelancers!?” The answer is, “Yes! I do.” Below is a list of Freelancers for Authors. Please note that I’m not endorsing anyone. In order to endorse someone, I would have to hire them and work with them for a time and as much as I love and adore you, I don’t have time for that! Instead, this is a place for you to start your research. The descriptions were written by the freelancers themselves. – Mel

Alpha Literary Services

Mandy Lawler – Author Assistant

Mom to three kidlets, two dogs and two cats, wife to one awesome guy. I’ve been in the book business for four years and counting as a reader, then a blogger, then a publicist and assistant! I love what I do and I find the book business challenging and fascinating. My favorite genres are contemporary romance, romantic suspense, sports romance, and women’s fiction.

As a publicist, I have years of experience planning releases, blog tours, creating media kits, distributing information to bloggers, acquiring media placement, pitching books to bloggers for read/review, social media script creation, graphics creation and posting. I’ve created and administered Facebook groups, reader review teams, served as a social media assistant, creating posting schedules for Facebook and much more! I enjoy working with authors and helping them develop their own brand and fostering the connection to their readers.

Previous clients include: New York Times and USA Today Bestsellers including Amy Harmon, Claudia Connor, Jessica Scott, Emmy Curtis, Karla Doyle. During my time as a publicist at Barclay Publicity, I had the pleasure of working with New York Times and USA Today Bestsellers Katee Robert, Piper J. Author’s Write Hand

Kelly Oakes – Virtual Assistant

I started this company because of my love of books and wanted to do something that involved them, but at the same time; wouldn’t make me hate them.

It wasn’t until a BIG move across the U.S. was scheduled with my husband’s company that I had the idea, or fear, “What the heck am I going to do for work in Florida?” So, one night in 2013 at a convention and sitting in a van with Jade Lee outside of a strip club in Vegas (100% real), she mentioned she was losing her assistant. I jumped at the chance and said, “I’m starting my own company, I’ll be your assistant!” True story. The move fell through, but the new company and job was born.

Fast forward to 2016…I had the opportunity to finally move to Florida and I jumped at the chance. I’m still blogging and assisting authors, but doing it from a beachside town called Gulf Breeze, FL.

I’m a Mom, book lover, reviewer, blogger and jill of all things! and I’m still in love with books.
Author’s Write Hand offers a variety of services for the busy writer:
